Neal Brothers Salsa

I have heard that lots of people LOVE the Neal Brothers salsa, so when I was shopping at my local grocery store I decided to pick up 3 different types to review.

Product Review - Neal Brothers Salsa

star rating

If you haven’t heard of Neal Brothers before, you have to check out their variety of products. They offer a variety of delicious snack food items and condiments that have the ability to bring family and friends together. The company is Canadian that started in 1988. They are actual brothers who started a company together with the intention of using quality ingredients to ensure they provide a “better for you” snack option. They have a creative approach to flavour and food, and Neal Brothers definitely stand out.

I have tried most of their salsas, but these are the top three I would recommend.

  1. Sweet Heat
  2. Tomatillo
  3. Oh-this is hot

Sweet Heat

Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Nut Free, Peanut Free, “Plant Based”, Vegetarian.

We’ve paired corn and jalapeño to create a mean heat in a nice way. Extraordinary Taste. Simple Ingredients. So Good Together.

The sweet heat salsa is a perfect combination of a chunkier salsa with whole corn and a little bit of spice. It is mild enough that it is not overpowering. The corn gives it a nice texture, and I found I was using this salsa on multiple meals and snacks, such as nachos and as a topping on my eggs benedicts or omelettes. This is definitely a fan favourite and I will be purchasing this again, as the entire jar was gone within a few days!

Tomatoes, Water, Corn, Cider vinegar, Tomato paste, Sugar, Onion, White vinegar, Green peppers, Jalapeno pepper, Corn starch, Salt, Dehydrated onion & garlic, Mustard flour, Dehydrated red pepper, Spices. Contains mustard. Refrigerate after opening.

Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Nut Free, Organic, Peanut Free, “Plant Based”, Vegetarian

We didn’t hold back on the jalapeños. You’ve been warned.

This salsa is SPICY! It doesn’t numb the mouth but you definitely feel the heat. It is perfect for those in the family that love spice. It is great on top of nachos or with eggs.

Tomatoes*, Water, Onions*, Tomato paste*, Green peppers*, Cider vinegar*, Sea salt, Jalapeno peppers*, Dehydrated garlic*, Cayenne pepper*, Concentrated lime juice*, Cilantro*. Refrigerate after opening.

Salsa, Tangy Tomatillo

Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Nut Free, Peanut Free, “Plant Based”, Vegetarian

Neal Brothers has mixed the tang of tomatillo with the bang of jalapeño.

The tomatillo salsa is unique with its green colour. I expected it to be spicy, as usually anything green screams “watch out” to me, but surprisingly, this is not spicy at all. It has a slightly more acidic flavour from the tomatillos, but overall it pairs nicely with nachos and cheese.

Tomatillo (tomatillos, citric acid), Water, Onions, Jalapeno peppers (jalapeno peppers, acetic acid and salt), Corn starch, Agave syrup, Dehydrated garlic, Sea salt, Spices, Concentrated lime juice, Natural flavour.

The salsa pairs nicely with their chips. One of my favourites are their organic deep blue tortilla chips. It is made with organic blue corn, sunflower oil and sea salt. I found them delicious, and not too salty. I am always on the lookout for chips that don’t leave me feeling dry and thirsty all night! The colour of these chips are amazing, and will make your snack table pop with a deep blue colour. You can usually find these at your local grocery store for about $4.99 per bag.

Overall, Neal Brothers have a wide variety of salsas, chips and other snacks. If I had to pick only one salsa, I would go with the sweet heat salsa. The chunks of corn paired with a slight spice make this amazing. I have used this in multiple recipes, such as nachos, topping on eggs benedict and in omelets. It is so versatile and adds so much flavour to any dish.
